Back (swinging …)

Same as with a stone that is thrown into the water, waves develop when a horse’s back is swinging; this leads to a relief of the entire body of the horse, particularly its joints. In the first schooling phase in the sense of ARR this ideal movement pattern is achieved already on the ground (without the rider’s weight): The back quarters are the carrying element, the horse flexes the haunches, and it elevates itself. The straightened horse now has an upward swinging back and is prepared to bear the rider’s weight.
