Serpentine

The serpentine, each loop touching the long side, in its classical form as a sequence of curved lines is a perfectly fitting exercise to impart the meaning of the diagonal. Because of the constant change of reins the supporting and the free leg also have to adapt. The goal is the elevation of the ribcage by means of the permanently changing inner hindleg.

If this exercise is combined with counter-flexion with the aid of the wall, the rideability of the horse increases. Here elements like rhythm, impulsion and suppleness quickly approach perfection. The preparation of the next steps now found a logical basis.
